Ekphrastic, a Greek word meaning ‘description’, is a form of creative writing describing a work of art or a visual image. Image:
Join award-winning poet Jude Aquilina for an entertaining and interactive workshop which will provide the tools and inspiration to write about artworks, photographs and images. The aim of this hands-on workshop is to arm participants with the skills to write effectively and confidently about the visual image. Bring a pen, paper and any photographs or images you would like to write about. Alternatively, you may wish to respond to the artworks in the exhibition space.
Whether you’re an artist wanting to write about your work, a poet looking to diversify, or a curious lover of the arts, Jude Aquilina will guide you into the exciting world of this cross-arts expression.
Jude's workshop will be held in the Coral Street Art Space, where you will also experience the work she has created for the exhibition Solastalgia - loss and return.
Workshop fee is $10, payable on the door.
Solastalgia - loss and return is comprised of 30 multi-disciplinary observances which reflect upon loss and time; how it fractures, folds and heals, broadening our kinship with the landscape and each other.
